What kind of small kitchen appliances do you own?

Ok, just curious what others own. I own all listed and use all of them, well the grain grinder is on loan, my neighbor used to grind grain, but her daughter is now a celiac, so she loaned it to me. When I make bread, I take her a loaf.

Coffee Maker. I also have a hand mixer. Those are the only 2 I use. My mom thinks I'm crazy because I cook a lot and bake a decent amount. But everything else just irritates me (I'm stuck in my ways).

I have a 6 qt. Kitchenaid, a blender, a hand mixer, 2 waffle makers, 2 large griddles, a popcorn popper, and a 4 slice bagel/toast toaster. I use all of these regularly, and some daily.

I also have a crockpot that I loathe and a Nesco that never gets used.

I would like to have a nice Wok and new crockpot.

I have all of those minuse the mill. I also have an ice cream maker, toaster-oven, and I love my George Foreman Grill. I have a few others, I am totally addicted to kitchen gadgets and things to make my life easier. I don't have enough room to use or display them all the time. Love to bake and cook.

I have a new red Bosch universal which I love. It replaced my Kitchenaid Artisan which is hanging out in the cabinet just in case. I also have a nutrimill set to arrive on Tuesday (hooray I can't wait) I also have a kitchenaid food processor that I barely use, a toaster oven which I like so much more than a toaster, a black and decker blender that I don't use anymore since getting the Bosch. I also have a magic bullet blender that I don't use anymore, and a deep fryer which we use from time to time. Oh and 3 crockpots. I really big one, one medium, and one super small one for dips and such.

I have to say that the Bosch is the best appliance investment I have made.

The only ones listed that I don't have are the grain mill and the heavy duty mixer. Not listed are the bread machine, vegetable steamer, coffee pot, and espresso machine. We can do without many appliances, but the two coffee machines and the crockpot are essential to our happy home life.

I voted other useful gadget for my blender, it's not as heavy duty as a vita-mix or that type, it's working well enough for me though- it's a Cuisinart. I'd like to get a toaster oven, to replace my current toaster and for easy heating of pizza and such. I used to have a breadmaker, but now I just use the dough hook on my mixer and bake it in the oven- I didn't like that hole in the loaf that my breadmaker left, and it stopped working consistently. :)

Oops again, I have an ice cream maker too, LOL. Don't consider it a small kitchen appliance though- because we make our ice cream in the garage and store the machine in there too. :)

As a general rule I would prefer to *not* have appliances for different things. Chesterton said we move from a general thing that does many jobs toward more and more small things that only do one job. True, true. Sometimes they do it better, but often it's just because it does it more easily.

So an appliance has to be used at least weekly for it to stay in my kitchen. That said, it seems to me I have a LOT of appliances. A person from any other country would certainly say so.

- heavy duty Kitchen Aid mixer
- Kitchen Aid food processor
- cheap blender (it only gets used for smoothies in summer)
- Foreman grill
- Krups coffee grinder
- Rival crock pot
- a cheap electric teakettle (this is going to Goodwill in the next bin)

Right now we're down a coffeemaker. I would like to stay with using the drip Melitta filter system, but it uses waaay more coffee per cup than an electric coffeemaker, and thus is much more expensive.

The less I can get by with, the better. Of all you listed, the only thing I own is bread machine ~ gifted to me by my parents and rarely used. I can't fathom owning all the paraphernalia many people have in their kitchens these days. Granted, I have a very small kitchen, which of course limits what I can accomodate. But even if I had more space I wouldn't want most of the things you mentioned ~ and I cook and bake often (daily).

I have a toaster which I keep in a cupboard. A hand mixer which I have successfully used for all my baking for 12 years. A coffee grinder (to be used in conjunction with a French press). I think that's it as far as small appliances go. Oh, I do have a blender ~ again, stored in a cupboard, and used almost exclusively for protein shakes & smoothies in the summer.

Btw, if we want to talk large appliances, I don't own a dishwasher!

Main loves are my Kitchen Aid mixer and blender. My man's love is the Gaggia espresso machine. I can no longer partake so I just gaze at it lovingly. :p

I think I've owned, at least once in my life, every appliance ever made except a countertop chicken rotisserie :).

In my appliance closet I also have a dehydrator, an electric slicer, two food processors (well, three if you count the bosch attachment), a juicer, a tortilla maker, a George Foreman grill, a Kitchenaid and a Bosch with ALL attachments and a hand mixer for when the job is small, a Vitamix, two waffle makers (one regular, one belgian), a bread machine, a grain grinder, a meat grinder and sausage stuffer... let's see, what am I forgetting? LOL I had a pasta making machine but loaned it out and never got it back... I used to own a peanut butter maker, too (that was a long time ago). Oh, and I have an ice cream maker, too. Toaster oven went out on me, so did my electric skillet. But I do have an electric warming tray, and a fondue thing-a-ma-jiggy.

LOL... if you can eat it, I have a machine that will make it! Keep in mind, I've been accumulating appliances since the 70s and never get rid of one unless it quits working... plus I've inherited a few and received a few as gifts so they are of particular sentimental value to me.

The one thing I won't own is an electric can opener. I hate those.

Almost forgot... three crockpots (small, medium, large), and a toaster. Used to have a rice cooker, and that is the only appliance I actually got rid of because I didn't like it. Also, a coffee pot and a coffee grinder.

On the countertop: KitchenAid mixer, microwave, toaster, coffeemaker, pod coffeemaker (gotta put one or the other away!).

In a cupboard: slow cooker, rice cooker, blender, wafflemaker, coffee grinder, hand-crank ice cream maker.

In the upright freezer: insert for our hand-crank ice cream maker.

Less is more, in my opinion. I really want to switch to a smaller microwave OR a toaster oven; a larger slow cooker, a rice cooker that can handle other grains better, and a hand-crank coffee grinder instead of the electric one.

I think we could easily get rid of the blender, except for the twice-yearly milkshake spree we go on :) We could make them with our Tupperware mix-shakers.

On the other hand, I went without a wafflemaker for several years, but got another because we missed our homemade waffles, both sweet and savory kinds like pizza waffles!

Love cooking in a crock pot. So easy!
We use our coffee grinder and espresso pot often.
Oh, and I got a Magic Bullet for Christmas. It's like a blender.

And what about the George Foreman Grill? Yep, works great for bacon!

I used to have a waffle maker, a sandwich maker, and a george foreman grill...I miss the waffle maker now.

My darling Moulinex. It currently in storage as we have been travelling. I have had to learn to cook without it. No more quickly made coleslaw; no more home made mayonnaise; no more blended soups; no more freshly squeezed orange juice: no more pastry. This is beginning to sound like 'The Proclaimers' song. 'Loch Aber no more, Sutherland no more, Lewis no more....Skye no more'. The first thing I am doing when we get a permanent home again is to buy a new one (the old one is cracked and chipped from all the love).:rolleyes:

I love my pressure cooker, but I don't think it qualifies as a small kitchen appliance. I also have a convection toaster oven that I won't live without. My blender is a Champ Hp3 and it gets used almost every day. I would very much like a food processor, but haven't found a way to justify the expense. My KA is the least expensive one that can be purchased. My crock pot is kick booty, too.

Often, I consider purchasing a rice steamer, but my pressure cooker works just fine for that.

LOL, nope, it's just the little ice cream maker you get at Wal-Mart for about $30 (I think that's how much they are). It's just so darn loud that we run it out in the garage. :)

I have a KA stand mixer...could stand an upgrade, but, it works well enough ;)
I have a blender, but not a high dollar heavy duty one...does that count? I didn't check it in the poll. My Oster blender has a mini food processor attachment. So, that would get me 2 checks :p
I have a breadmaker that was given to me by a neighbor last year.
My crockpot gets quite a bit of use.
I don't know that a griddle would count here..but we use ours quite a bit. My 10 yr old uses it at least 2x a week to make eggs for everyone.
My toaster doesn't see much use. Just once in a while.

I wouldn't complain if someone gave me a grain mill dealy :D Don't have that yet.
