This was my 1st convention and I had a good time. Found a few bargains from my list. Met some nice people. I did get lost trying to find a place to eat yesterday evening. I ended up in Steelton and then crossed over the Susuequahanna..oops!. I passed the hotel where I was staying which by the way is undergoing massive renovation, ugh!
Would I go back? Yes, but I think I would drive up for the day. If I was with a friend, I wouldn't mind doing the 1hr 45 min one way drive.
Did anyone else go and would care to comment?

I so wanted to go, but being this pregnant I was just not comfortable with the trip. I'm so glad you had a good time. I'm planning to go down to the NOVA conference in July. I'm very excited!

I was there! My first ever convention too.
I went up with friends, and was there for 2 days. (I could have been done within 5 hours.)
I was bummed a bit, as last year there were a number of speakers I wanted to listen too (DH got deployed though, so couldn't go last year), and this year there was only 1, and we missed him! (It was a 2 hour drive for us.)
It was fun to stay for the two days, with friends, as it was homeschool talk almost non-stop with MOMS that so get what you are saying! (I'm not a shopper though, so it was rather hard in that respect.) My friends are already talking about next year, but I think my time there will be greatly determined by the speakers next year.
(You'll have to PM me and tell me where you are driving from. . .you appear to have a similar driving radius. . .)

This is my 3rd year going to CHAP. I have been going for both days. I enjoy the speakers and love seeing people and socializing. For the past few years, I have volunteered on Saturday. You get a nice discount and I love meeting other HS from around the state. You also get to shop the used book section early. I got some great buys this year.
I have done it both ways staying overnight and driving back and forth each day. I am only about 1 1/2 from Harrisburg. If a group is going and and staying overnight, it is definitely worth it for the fellowship alone. It is a great time for HS moms to hangout and discuss materials etc. This year dh went with me. We enjoyed talking about the boys and got some great ideas for xmas gifts and projects and materials HE can do with the kids.
I also enjoy seeing Jim Weiss and talking to him about his work. He was there this year and two years ago. I am hoping one year they will have him as a speaker.
I would like to see Susan Wise Bauer speak as well. Maybe next year!
