A spelling question about Hive rankings.

I just just noticed that I'm only a few posts away from becoming a Royal Larvae. But, isn't "larvae" plural for "larva". Wouldn't be more accurate to call me a Royal Larva?

Does this bug anyone else?

I decided that we got to 'be' several to ensure that one survives (I imagined several scenarios)... but then I always made up stories based on our weekly vocab lists in foreign languages, so I'm weird. :)

Okay...I'm verrrrrry new! Only used this site since Monday (three days). Could someone please briefly let me know what the whole hive ranking and larva (or larvae maybe!) thing is for and anything else I need to know so I don't end up looking really dumb! Somehow, I think I missed all of the instructions but don't know where I was supposed to find them. Thanks for the help!
