My girlies have been taking gymnastics once a week this year, to see if they would like it. They both really do, but dd7 has a chance to be pretty good at it, I think. How many classes per week do you think would give her the chance for enough practice to build her strength and skills? I have no idea. We will talk to the gymnastics place, too, but I thought I'd ask for input here.
Dd8 will dance 3x per week, so I was thinking that maybe that would be good for dd7's gymnastics, too.

My kids go the most out of private lessons. They could pack more one-on-one in that 30 minutes than they could get out of a 60 minute class. I notice my oldest hasn't progressed much since we stopped them. mainly because she is the oldest in the class and well, she doesn't push herself. UGH. I don't want to go on different days - but i might have to talk to him about moving her up.
I am hoping SOON to be able to get them back into a private at least twice a month, that budget thing is interfering. Our privates are relatively cheap though, $15/half-hour. With the 3 of them in it i'd want to do an hour at a time.

went from Recreation level to invitational level and now she practices about 4 hours per week and next week it will be 6.5 hours per week. She also is required to do a bunch of hours in summer camp. The amount of time goes incrementally up each year. We go through a parks and rec subsidized program so it is pretty cheap, with good instructors and good equipment. The advantage is that it is much cheaper than the local private places -- probably a little less competitive but that's okay, with me.
We can't choose the amount of hours -- unless she decides to go back to recreational level.

At 7, my DD does 9 hours per week. Over the summer it will be 14 hours weekly.
And that does not give her the possibility to go Nationals. She'd need to do close to 30 hours a week for that. At 9 hours, she's aiming for Provincials, and she's not even guaranteed to make it.

At 6, my DD does 9 hours, next week it goes up to 13. In fall, it would go to 16, but we're moving and I am unsure what her new gym will be like.
