Has anyone had to deal with mold in your walls. I have been complaining to my husband for a while that it smells musty in our house. Yesterday I noticed black stuff around all of the electrical outlets on the back wall of our house( upstairs and downstairs). Of course I am freaking out thinking we are going to have to tear down the whole rear of our house. We have a friend who is a house inspector coming this afternoon or tomorrow to look at it. I am just trying to see if anyone else has had to deal with this and how big of a deal it turned out to be.

Thanks

our house. Ours was rather serious and we eventually had to gut all external walls back to the studs.

I would recommend that you get a professional opinion. There was no way we would have even been able to tell what the problem was. We had someone come out and tell us what needed to be done and then we did it ourselves.

I hope yours is an easier fix!

Not only are you going to have to find out the extent of the mold (and remove it) but you will need to find out WHY you have the mold growing - not enough ventilation? and fix that problem. I second having a professional opinion. We had toxic mold at one house and had some pretty nasty long-term health problems as a result.
