Hello Ladies!!!:001_smile: I shouldn't be in the high school thread b/c my son is only 8, but he is on the accelerated side so I know higher Math is coming pretty quick. I was a Med student in college(didn't finish) and this may sound silly but I am thinking of going back studying high school math again for the sake of my kids so I can teach them well. I don't have a problem with Science area, but Math, we didn't have a lot of Math in Med school just in BioChemistry. I am asking an advice regarding which curriculum should I use as a refresher course. I will probably start with Algebra. And I haven't research on high school curriculum yet, so I don't really know which one to buy. I would greatly appreciate any input. Thank you very much.

Serge Lang (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Serge_Lang)wrote a book specially for grown ups who need a refresher. (http://www.amazon.com/Basic-Mathematics-Serge-Lang/dp/0387967877) I think he wrote it after encountering one too many college students who were deficient in math---amusing since he was talking about Yale students who no one would think of as dolts in need of remediation.
In a single book that can be covered in a semester he covers all the topics that you should have learned in high school before hitting calculus and what makes this book special is that he spends a lot of time on the inner workings of math, like math theory if you will.
Here is the TOC and many sample pages. (http://books.google.com/books?id=gBtvo480ng4C&pg=PP1&dq=Serge+Lang%2Bbasic+math&sig=_cx91wnDOystSte5M5nXoUo_jIQ#PPR13,M1)
