What does clicking on "thread/thread starter" change? and more Q's...

Do the threads stay in the order they were posted?

Or do the ones being discussed come to the top?

Or can you change it to do as you would like? (And just what WOULD I like? LOL)

I click on "thread" and "Thread starter", and I don't know what changes are made. Obviously one can reverse the order of the threads, but what's the diff between the thread and the starter?

JeanI just figured this out. It organizes the threads in alphabetical order. "Thread" arranges them by thread title (either A-Z or Z-A, depending on whether you choose the "up" arrow or "down" arrow). "Thread Starter" organizes them alphabetically by the poster's user names, also in A-Z or Z-A order, according to the arrows. I actually found your post with this method. I thought I recalled your subject line beginning with the word "what", so I alphabetized the threads in reverse order (Z-A), and searched the "w's" til I found your question.

I tried to see a pattern, but failed. :oYeah, I failed to see the pattern at first too. What makes it more confusing is that when alphabetizing, numbers and symbols come before letters. So user names (or threads) that start with numbers or symbols at the top of the list distract from the alphabetical pattern that follows. For example, if someone encloses the first word of their subject line in quotes, that first quotation mark moves the thread to the top of the list, regardless of what might be the first letter of the word inside the quotes.
