We recently bought Rosetta Stone German for my DS 9 and me. Dad is a native speaker. So far I really like this program. It really has been "THE" answers to our problems (basically dad doesn't have enough time to work daily on German with DS beyond speaking only in German with him). So now I have something I can assign and help DS with everyday even if dad isn't home or is too busy.

My only problem with the program is the voice recognition thing. I didn't even realize it had it when I bought the program so it wasn't the main draw for why I bought it. It works fine for me. It does not work at all for DS. I cannot quite put my finger on exactly why it isn't working for him.

I guess my question is whether or not this has been a problem for anyone else who uses it. It's not a big deal since he gets practice daily with a native speaker. I'm just curious about it.

sometimes with the younger age group, it helps to place the voice recognition at "easy" level.

when my younger kiddos can't seem to speak loudly enough for the mic to pick it up, we've learned to try and then use the "go forward" button.

Hm, I didn't realize there was an "easy" level. I only recall it asking if one is male, female, or under 14. I will have to look into this. Thanks!

You are right! I just looked. I will set it to easy and see if that helps.

I'm so glad I asked. Thank you!!
