Is anyone familiar with Reasoning and Writing?

Is anyone familiar with the Direct Instruction writing curriculum "Reasoning and Writing"? I saw a little information about it here (http://d-edreckoning.blogspot.com/) and it looks interesting. The Teacher's guide is really expensive though. I'm wondering if it's necessary.

I haven't used Reasoning and Writing yet, but I have used a couple of other direct instruction programs and plan to use Reasoning and Writing with my son for 3rd grade. The program I am using now is called Language for Writing. The Teacher's Presentation book is the heart of the program and absolutely necessary. It is unfortunate that these programs are so expensive, but they really are excellent. I think they are great for typical learners, but especially wonderful for children who have any kind of learning disability.
