My kids used this w/ their cyber for 2 years. I found an extra 3rd grade book we never used and was going to save money and just use it for my ds8 next year. It doesn't have a ton of diagramming in it, but he'll either use R&S4 or GWG4 in 4th (since we don't have any more Exercises In English) and both have diagramming. What do you all think of Exercises in English? AND, I know in Math it could be detrimental to switch around, but does it really matter w/ grammar?

Is this the same as Voyages in English? If so, I've seen it online and really liked it. It is recommended by SWB.

Same company, but I'm not sure if it's the same book. The website lists 2 separate books. One is Voyages and the other is Exercises. I'll have to check out the difference.

Exercises in English are actually supplementary materials to Voyages in English. THey aren't meant to be full curriculum.

It is basically just the grammar portion of Voyages in English, minus the writing lessons.
It is a solid, traditional textbook program.

My dc used this for 2 years with their K12 cyber and this was all the grammar they had. No other textbook spine. Can Exercises In English stand alone? Or, should I just buy the GWG workbook for grade 3 (it's not that expensive). TIA

It's not the same as Voyages, Exercises doesn't have writing in it. Exercises in English is my top pick for a workbook grammar program, esp. for my visual learner. I would say use it if he already has in cyber, some kids might be more sensitive to change than others. Otherwise, I think (2yrs experience, mind you) it's fine to use for now.

If you look in the workbook, you will see that the exercises actually correspond to lessons in the textbook. (mine are all packed or I would go look and tell you exactly how to tell).
It seems to me that even though it is grammar only (w/0 the writing), they only cover portions of the grammar. The textbooks are cheap (I own the 95 ed and you can buy the textbook and the TMs for about $25 for both together. I just checked and Follett has both 3rd grade books in.....student text for 10 and TM for 15.)
The textbooks also contain all the teaching materials. The exercises are simply that.....workbook exercises.
