Does anyone know where I would be able to get some Russian books? Looking to buy some to read to kids, but don't want to make the trip to Russia ;)

What subjects/topics/ age ranges are you looking for?

You probably don't need to go to Russia, though by the time you're done paying the Shipping fees for importing a decent library, you might wish that you had just gone to Russia.

You might try your hand ate translating books like Are You my Mother and using sticky notes/index cards to paste in the translations. Many books are easy because they have such straightforward dialogue to them, though you may need to get creative with sound effects such as splat or yuck.

I've seen children's books in Russian at our local Barnes & Noble. Have you tried Amazon?

I don't know if you're religious or not, but Rod and Staff has a wonderful assortment of children's books in Russian.

amazon.com

If you go to foreign language books and select Russian, it comes up with over 240,000 titles.

There's a Russian bookstore in Brooklyn with a nice-sized children's section. Here's a link: http://www.ruskniga.com/

Are you Russian Orthodox? If so, you might want to consider the publisher of these books and their (natural) bias from their religious affiliation.

Here is another option for an online store in US. I bought from them, they shipped right away from St. Louis area and arrived in great shape

I forgot this on my other reply.

One more option is to get a Children's Bible in Russian from My Father's World. It will take a phone order or at convention. www.mfwbooks.com

the proceeds go to translation projects

kniga.com - especially good for current textbooks

I've also had good luck with old Soviet editions on ebay.

Just make sure you buy with "1-time use" credit card number - our cards (two different cards/people) had fraud transactions after buying from ozon.

Hi, If you just want a text without having an actual book, I recommend
www.mirknig.com

I downloaded a lot of russian language materials from them for free.
