Invent and produce (you will not need to market) a pacifier with a locater device. The Paci-clapper. The Beeping Binkie. The Neverlosing Gabstopper.
Please. You'll be helping many people besides yourself.

It should also have an attachment for mommy's keys and the tv remote.
We either have a million Pacis or NONE.

And it's especially frustrating when your child won't take any others except the one you lost. My youngest did this. She loved the pacifier the hospital gave us when she was born, we lost it, we bought a gazillion others, and she refused each and every one. My husband had to go back to the hospital and sheepishly ask for another. They laughed and said that they get that all the time. They gave him two more. We made sure we never lost them again. It's been nearly 15 years and I still have one of them in a box (not that she'll ever need it, LOL -- just for memories). Hope you find yours soon. http://easyfreesmileys.com/smileys/free-cute-smileys-246.gif (http://easyfreesmileys.com/)

After first dd was a few weeks old, dh said one day, "So this is why the Nuk package has to tell you not to tie it to them." ;)

Or, we could invent one that baby would swallow (maybe when the Binkie deteriorates to the point of needing replacement?), and we'd be able to find out if baby is dirty without sticking our faces or fingers in their little bums.
The possibilities are endless!!! We could have Binktones....and STINKTONES!

Ha ha! I've thought of this several times. My idea is something that you have a button attached somewhere that you just can't lose track of it (like mounted on a wall! LOL) And you can have multiple channels with different sounds for each one. You press the button for the item that you want to find and it starts ringing/binging or whatever... you could stick it on your keys, your cell phone (because it's been MIA so long that it's out of batteries and you can't call it), your remote controls, binkies, blankies... the possibilities are endless.
But I'm not the inventing type. So I'm waiting for someone else to be the genius that makes it happen! To be quite honest, I'm betting it would actually be a really simple thing to create! :D

In my house I would pay big money for a GPS system for my kids shoes. Dispite the fact that each child has a shoe bin in the garage my kids leave their shoes at the neighbor's house, in the car, in the backyard, in the game room, in the family room, in the den and under my bed (thanks to our puppy).
We would save so much time if I could push a button to locate their shoes.

Hmmm...you could always use the ones on your own body that NEVER get lost....
That is what I did-but it's an approach that has its own liabilities-LOL!

This is what I did, too. I was never, never going to use a soother (that's what Pacifiers are called where I grew up--I couldn't believe my ears when the nurse called it a binky) but did break down and try it with my first. It worked so well one night, I tried it again, but it failed. However, once I realized that I didn't have to obey the lactation consultants, I just used those permanently attached. Worked great, never got lost, no need to wean twice (once for milk, once for binky.)

DH and I were both ritual thumb suckers til we were like 8 years old so I refused to let my children do it.
We never even had a problem losing them until our 4th child. It's a nightmare...

Ah, but none of mine sucked their thumbs or their fingers. Ds did suck his clothes for awhile, though.
