Hi,

When my teen was just learning to read, he really loved a book I found at the library. It was a hard cover book, and it contained pages and pages of photographs of basic traffic signs, like STOP, NO LEFT TURN, RIGHT TURN ONLY, etc.

My son just loved this book because it was the first one he could "read". He loved to point out the signs as we were out driving around.

I want to purchase a copy for my nephew, but I can't remember the title. I was hoping that someone else may have come across this book.

Any ideas, folks?

TIA,
Brenda

The only traffic sign book I can remember is one that I loved growing up. It was called Blue Bug's something or other! Sorry I can't help, but I remember this one b/c it has the little blue bug going around town and running into varoius traffic sign, signs, symbols, etc. I'm sure this isn't what you are looking for. I hope somebody can jog your memory!

I don't know of one that is the right age to be that exact one, but if you go to Amazon and then the children's books category and search on "road signs" several come up that look like potential candidates for your purposes. Other than that, I would ask a children's librarian as the exact book may be out of print.

Wait....this might be it. "I read signs" by Tana Hoban, published 1987, from Reading Rainbow Books and still in print and available at Amazon.

I think my daughter had this one as well. Tana Hoban also has one called "I read symbols" and lots of other children's books for this stage.

Thanks for looking it up. When I searched for Tana Hoban, I also recognized several of the other titles. My nephew will love these!
