Anybody else afterschooling french or another language? We have not gotten started yet and I would love input on a cirriculum. My daughter is 6 and very interested in this subject.

TIA!

I'm homeschooling now, but when my dc were in ps (they were 5 and 6 yrs old), I afterschooled French with Ecoutez, Parlez. It's a nice, easy introduction and doesn't take much time or effort to do, so it's perfect for afterschooling, imo. You can find it at Rainbow Resource.

Someone on another thread mentioned using Nallenart for children in the early elementary grades. The website is www.nallenart.org (http://www.nallenart.org). I have sinced looked at it quite a bit and it looks really appealling especially if you already speak a little French. The inital course for K-3 is called L'arte de dire. I think we may give it a try.

I'm putting together my own basic language programs based on some simple books that I've already bought from bookstores and things. I'm designing a 50-75 day course that will teach several words, phrases and sentences through scripted conversation and guides etc. The first program will be in Spanish, but this summer I hope to develop a program for American Sign Language, French, Creole, Arabic and German programs, but the one I'm doing right now is Spanish. I hope that it will be ready by March for testing.
