:001_huh: Can someone explain to me the Hive Mind thing and its levels. It always grabs my attention--and I can't seem to find any info on my own.

TIA,

It's an inside joke. Way back on the old board someone posted asking the "hive mind" of the boards for an opinion and we started using the term. It is ironic because there are thousands of people on this board representing every belief and opinion you could think of - and more. We almost never agree universally on anything.

When they created the new boards they just used what we had already nick named ourselves as a nick name for the board. The levels are based on reputation points. Lots of discussion about that on the "how to" board.

Welcome! Although we don't promise not to bite, we promise that we've had all our shots.

(Except for the people who eschew vaccination, of course! :D)

Well, I've had *my* shots. I just forgo some vaccinations for the kids...they don't bite though, they were raised better than I was. ;)

. The levels are based on reputation points.

Aren't the levels based on the number of posts a person accumulates? My levels were changing before the reputation thing came into being. Or have the levels been changed to reflect the reputation points?

It's just number of posts.

This is my understanding as well.

The number of green boxes next to someone's name, I think, corresponds to a combination of reputation points and # of posts.

The "level" of hive mind worker you are is just dependent on the number of posts.

Here's what I can gather by looking at the member's list. I had far too much coffee this afternoon, and can't seem to even think about going to sleep yet. I'm sure some of these numbers are off by a few...

(Number of posts) (Level/Label)
0 - 10 Just Visiting
11 - 40 Hive Mind Larvae
41 - 100 Hive Mind Worker Bee
101 - 160 Hive Mind Level 2 Worker: Nurse Bee
161 - 210 Hive Mind Level 3 Worker: Honeymaking Bee
211 - 310 Hive Mind Level 4 Worker: Builder Bee
311- 440 Hive Mind Level 5 Worker: Forager Bee
411 - 550 Hive Mind Level 6 Worker: Scout Bee
551 - 749 Hive Mind Royal Larvae
750 - 1000 Hive Mind Queen Bee
1001 - 1500 Amateur Bee Keeper
1501 - ???? Apprentice Bee Keeper

There. I've wasted ten minutes and I'm still no sleepier.

You are totally right, my bad. You little green squares are based on rep. That's why I can be an Amateur Bee Keeper and only have one little square!

So where does the little saying come from when you hover over the little greeen squares?
