Feeling sad

Jean -- I'm so sorry about Ears. He was so handsome!! I know you'll miss him terribly, but I can't imagine a cat having a better home than yours. There is so much cat love there, and so much delight for a kitty. Maybe heaven for him is just another dimension of your farm. Maybe he's still there, protecting, and being king. That's what I think anyway.

So sorry about your kitty. We love ours, too. I always recommend a book called "Cat Heaven" by Cynthia Rylant. You can find it in the children's book section of the library, but it is very comforting for grown-ups too.

My boys still talk fondly of the little kitty they adopted which was hit and killed before my oldest son's eyes last fall. (And I know the speeding dimwit must have realized he hit something ~ but did he so much as stop? Nope.:mad:) They've since rescued another which had fallen into the manure pit (eeewww!), but it doesn't have the same sweet personality as the other. Best to you.

I'm sorry for your loss. He was a handsome cat, and it is so hard to lose an old friend.
I've been meaning to thank you for the advice you gave me last April, when I posted on the board about a stray cat that turned up at our house. It was in large part thanks to your words of encouragement that we kept him (I never had a cat before), and Harry has become a beloved member of our family.

I never thought so many would reply. You are all so kind.

We have so many cats. You wouldn't think that losing one would hurt so much. I guess our friendship ran so deep--I've nursed him through so many problems and he trusted me so completely. He let me give him shots and icky-tasting medicine; he allowed me to brush his knots out of his fur and clean out his wounds when he came in after a fight. He demanded me to scratch his chin and always talked to me in his grunty little voice.

It is just a cat. It is not my husband or my child or my sister or my mother.

But I love him. I'll miss him walking towards me with such royal poise. He ruled and he knew it.
