What do you think of this program? Is this necessary if my ds is reading books on his own? What's the difference between the newer books and the older green covered books? Are they basically the same?

We use Christian Light Reading; it's a reader with 5 workbooks for about $40 total. I suggest starting it in grade 4 because it's only 15 weeks of reading/workbooks (gr.4-8) and then your dc can read whole books the rest of the school yr. I highly recommend CLE reading! Join the CLE families yahoo group (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/christianlightfamilies/)to viewsamples in "Photos" section of the group.
