Once a post is a little bit old it can no longer be edited and so I am getting PMs for things I had listed on the for sale board ages ago. I did post a reply that the item has sold, but people don't always read all the way down. I wonder if we could have a delete feature added?

If you edit and then go advanced I think you can edit your title and post to "item sold!"
eta: Most of the boards I have been on do not allow people to entirely delete for sale posts because it would make it more difficult to track bad sellers.

You can also delete the body of the message.

When I said "post" I meant body of the message. Sorry I wasn't clear!! :D

But once a post has been up for a while, the delete option goes away, unless I am missing something?

Oh, whoops. You are correct.

Ah, I didn't realize the edit option went away after a time on this board. Maybe it would make more sense to:
a) have a moderator for those boards who could edit posts for people
or
b) adjust the forum options to always allow for editing in that forum.

This would be helpful I think.

I hate to bump my ad to the front of the line just because I want people to know it sold, but I don't want to get more requests about it, either. Oh, well, I guess people can just celebrate my sale with me. :)

Perhaps this is slightly repetative to what's already been said, but you can also edit the original message to simply "sold". Then when someone is looking, and moves their cursor over your post, they will see the "sold" message and perhaps save themselves some time by not clicking on it.

Once the post has been up for a while, the edit option goes away so you can no longer edit it. For instance I can no longer edit the original post in this thread. The edit button is gone.

Do we know yet of a way to do this? I have a post on the sale board that I would like to edit(and it is past the time that my edit button is available). Would it be better to ask it be deleted and then start again?
