So, if someone had chest pain periodically, but it only happened at night, what do you suppose that might be? Surely, if it were a heart problem, it would happen at random times during the day, too??

Heart burn from something they ate earlier in the day?

stress...in the day they maybe really busy and not notice. But at night when things quiet down...they maybe paying more attention...does that make sense?

Dh had something like that too years ago. I had him get checked out anyway to be safe. Maybe it's time for your dh to have a stress test? Just to be sure? Maybe there are other tests the dr can give or some other way to determine if it's heart burn vs. heart pain/trouble. One would think if there was heart problems they would be occurring during the whole day.....but who knows.

I'd say - time for a check-up!!

Reflux? But you can't rely on that. The first non-vague symptom of heart disease in women is often death, or at least that's what I've read.

Don't ignore that stuff, even if it's "simply" reflux. GERD is nasty and can lead to cancer (http://www.sdheartburn.com/).

Yep. I get reflux and once even went to the hospital because it felt like I was about to die. It is definitely worth a trip to the doctor.

Reflux/GERD/heartburn is the most common cause of non-cardiac chest pain. Or at least that is what I was told when I went to the dr for chest pain that was occurring at night time. I had no other symptoms of reflux, just this horrible chest pain. I take meds for it now, and it's gone. It was very scary at the time though. I would recommend a visit to the dr to have it checked out to make sure it isn't something more serious and to get meds if it is reflux.

Untreated reflux can damage the esophagus, I think, which is a much more serious problem. So, I also would recommend going to the doctor and getting meds if it is reflux.
