Our homeschool group usually has a "talent show"/ presentation night where the kids can perform or display something.
Last year my oldest two played the ocarina.
This year my 13yos decided *the night before* that he wanted to recite Jabberwocky from memory. He worked alllll day long but couldn't get it down. he was a GREAT sport and joked all over the place when he kept messing up royally in front of everyone TRYING to recite it from memory. when my 2d ds brought the paper up to him someone commented that it was all so comedic it looked like it was planned, lol. At least he read it Very well, hee hee. he had recited a long poem from memory a couple years ago, but he had worked for 3 weeks on it!
6yos recited The Little Turtle. predictable, but cute ;)
My 10yo 2d ds didn't want to do anything by himself, so i did a quick little skit/song w/ him: Dough, Ra.... ME! revamped from a Scout skit. I sang the song [if you can call it singing --i can't carry a tune!] and he handed me props and kept up w/ the song by singing the do, re, mi as I sang over him:
[he hands me a wallet w/ $$ sticking out]
Dough-- the stuff -- I buy Cokes with.
[he hands me my 44oz coke from the RaceTrac gas station]
Ra....ceTrac the place I buy my cokes!
[I set the coke down, and He goes to grab it for himself. i yank it back]
ME-- the ONE-- I buy cokes for!!!
[don't cringe at the grammar!!]
[now he hands me the car keys]
Fa -- How far I'd go to get Some!!!
So-- I think I'll have some Coke! [i take a sip of coke]
La--- ts, and Lots and lots of coke [sip more coke]
ds pulls teapot from box and says.... TEA???
me: No thanks I'll have some Coke!
me picking up wallet again: Which means we will need more...
ds, taking wallet: DOUGH! more dough for cokes!
He did a pretty good job keeping up... for someone who didn't wanna do anything!
It was fun.
corny, but fun.
Hey-- i have more guts than talent, lol!!
your turn!
