I realize the WRAT is a grade-level scoring test. Just wanted to post his results and percentiles, and see if anyone has anything to say or suggest. This was done as his mandatory 3rd grade testing for this school year.

Reading- Raw Score:25 Grade Equivalents: 2 Percentile ranks: 7

Spelling- Raw Score: 19 Grade Equivalents: 1 Percentile ranks: 3

Arithmetic- Raw Score: 22 Grade Equivalents: 2 Percentile ranks: 5

I really am not sure how he scored so well in reading. I was out of the room during that portion of the test (by well I mean, it was much higher than I anticipated it being). Spelling I agree with. However, if he had letter reversals, should they have been marked as an incorrect spelling? Arithmetic is somewhat skewed as she somewhat "helped" him in doing columns for addition/subtraction of more than one-digit numbers. I'm guessing that she really shouldn't have done that, but it's not causing me too much stress. ;)

Are the percentile ranks based on his age? Are grade equivalents for the beginning of a grade year or the end?

I did a little googling of the WISC-3 and now I'm really confused. It seems like this tester only did 3 subtests out of 10, is it? Perhaps that's the norm when it's being used only as a yearly achievement test type thing?

I also did not receive an IQ score, which I'm sure she couldn't compute because he did not do the entire test it appears.

Should I even take this test result to the neuropsych in August?

The WISC-3 is an intelligence test, not an achievement test. It doesn't have reading and spelling scores, nor written math. The WRAT is an achievement test, which is what you got.
The grade equivalents are usually given in a form of 1.8 . A ge of 1.8 would mean a score equal to the average score earned by a first grader in the 8th month of first grade. I've never seen a grade equivalent of just 1 or 2. They would typically be given as 1.0 or 2.0. Grade equivalents are much less useful than the percentile ranking. I wouldn't pay much attention to them.

Whether or not letter reversals are counted as incorrect spelling depends on how the test was normed. If it was normed marking off for reversals, that's how it should be scored. The test administrator has to follow the test protocal in scoring, etc. or the test is no longer standardized.

Ooops! You're right! It was the WRAT. No wonder I was so confused. He had the WISC done a few years ago....

OK. So for the percentile ranks, then I'm assuming it means for his age??

According to this description (http://www.psycan.com/Product/Details.aspx?ProductID=12668), the WRAT-3 is normed by age. Here is an excerpt:

The WRAT-3 is normed by age - not grade level - for greater accuracy. WRAT-3 standard scores and percentiles compare an individual's performance with others of the same age. The grade levels indicated are clues to instructional levels, not determinations of specific instructional levels.
