I have a friend who just finished homeschooling her 2 teens. She gave me boxes and boxes of books, most of them are the AO Lifepacs for 8th grade and up. I have a son who will be starting 7th grade next year. He's extremely bright and I have no doubt going back to hschooling is the right decision for him. However, I found a lot of negative reviews for AO Lifepacs. Finances are definitely an issue for us, if AO could work for him for this year, it would help tremendously. But I don't want to give him a mediocre or less-than education just because I have some free curriculum to use.

Use them and supplement where you see fit. I know a lot of people who use them and have no problems and others who supplement them.

:iagree:

If finances are an issue, I'd consider it a blessing and then do your best to find what you consider the holes and hit the library to make up the difference.

Yep , just like the poster above. Its a blessing . Just go through them and use them accordingly . If you feel you need more , go to the library . Happy Homeschooling !

You can even use free online lists for ideas of books to use from the library. Paula's web site is a good source.
There are lots of other online sources also. The link I tried to insert didn't work, so just type "Paula's Archives" in Google, and you will be able to get there easily. She has lots of great books listed for science and history.

I agree with the others who've posted - use them and supplement if you need to do so! We do this quite a bit, with free or cheap resources. :) It's fun!! hehehee

I agree, if you can use them as a supplement that is great. If they do not work out for you perhaps you can pass them on to soomeone who will use them.

We have received curriculum this way many times and have saved what did not work for us to swap at our local homeschooling group's curriculum/book swap.

Why don't you sell them and put the money towards something you want?
