I'm looking at buying WT, but would need three workbooks for my kiddos, plus the teachers guide. Aaack! Can you only buy WT through the company or is there a cheaper place? A cheaper way? Can my kids share a workbook and write on paper instead? Thanks!

I bought ours at Lulu.com, and haven't noticed anywhere else to buy it. I run off copies of the lesson and save the book. I think they could share the book and write on paper as well. I just happen to have a printer so it's easier just to run off copies. I run it off for each story and staple it so that each dc has their own. That may be more than you want to do, though. Hope that helps a little.

I just researched this, and frankly, I didn't find it cheaper anywhere else. I purchased a student text for each of the students in my little private "co-op" of 6 students, and purchased the teacher book for myself.

While you COULD write everything out on paper, the stories that the students use are actually printed in the worktext for the students to read, and you do things to the stories such as mark with a green color the first words in each sentence, and mark with a red color the end punctuation. Additionally, the students have editting checklists, etc throughout the week along with daily assignments.

Peacehill Press for SOTW allows copying of their activity guide within a family. You might ask Amy Olson (or is it Olsen?) what her copyright requirements are for use within a family for WT. If she does permit copying of the worktext, then you could write out the spelling and vocab very easily, for example, on paper, and just copy the pages you would NEED for each child.

Hope that this info helps.

Happy trails with Writing Tales. We LOVE it!:thumbup1:

I would think you can copy the pages . There isn't any copywrite warnings on or in the book. I believe at the moment Lulu.com is the only place where you can purchase this ( I asked the same question :>) Amy is working to have it sold elsewhere but lulu is the only place to get it at the moment .
You could just get the teacher manual and student book ( you do need the student book ) and copy for the other . But you can't just do it all on paper .

Hi - I'm here!

I'm working right now on getting the books out to other vendors, but I wasn't able to do this until about a month ago, and since this is the busy convention season, things are moving slowly (vendors are busy!.) If you check the website, you will see that the books will be available at several conventions. I will be at two conventions (NJ and PA) and offering the books at my table at a "Convention Special" discount. Also if you purchase a ticket to the Ultimate Homeschool Expo (info available on my site) you will get a coupon to purchase the books at 20% off. (Plus tons of other free goodies and coupons from others...but I digress...)

So by next year I hope the books will be much more widely available, and hopefully at a few more vendors that might be able to offer discounts.

If you check the copyright language in the workbooks, unfortunately I do not permit those books to be copied for multiple children. I do however allow the Teacher's Resources in the Appendix of the Teacher's Guide to be printed out as many times as they are needed for Activities and Games.

We're using both levels here. I love the program, in that it got my kids to finally enjoy the writing process.

I honestly don't think it would be cost-effective to copy the whole workbook anyway, even if it weren't against copyright laws (which it is).

I do think it's worth it to just buy an extra workbook for each of your extra kids.

Thank you, Amy, for a great product! I've never regretted my purchase!

:) Linda

Yes, I agree with Linda up above me .. and ugh I should of read all of manual "sorry , Amy." I just assumed ( so wrong of me ) that since we could copy the Teacher's Resources that we could do the same with the workbook . I do agree that it is very useful to have a student workbook for each child though . Ink is just too expensive ( more so then gas !!! ) and to me its worth it :>)

To Amy , we still Love Writing Tales !!!
