I've got a very bright 6yo who will happily read (and understand) a stack of Horrible Science books. I'd like to add Science back into our schedule one or two days per week, but don't want it to be time intensive. A workbook style program seems ideal at this point. We are not looking to challenge her terribly (she pushes herself enough in other subjects; serious science can come later), but don't want to bore her either. For the life of me, I can't figure out what would be the best Singapore Science option.
Any advice? I'm open to other programs as well, but we definitely want something secular. I'm also open to being told that all this is just silly and I can leave it for the foreseeable future. :)

We have really enjoyed My World Science. Unfortunately it's gone out of print. If you look around on the sale boards you can find some of the units and bks used. Besides that, Magic School Bus bks, videos, and computer cd's are great for that age. For Earth Science there is a great bk called Earth Child 2000. It has games, activities, experiments (web links too).

This is not really workbooks, but also is not very time consuming either. It works for grades 1st - 8th.

also there is these workbooks ( I like the complete book series, you can also buy them at Walmart, Sam's Club, and I think Staples)

McGraw Hill has out the Complete Book of Science series for grades 1/2. It's a mixed bag. It's just the worksheets, so I think you need to add in the reading to go along with it. Someone on these boards just also said that they've come out with a Spectrum series science, so I'm anxious to see that, as well. I expect that it might also be just worksheets; but their geography a short readings paired with worksheets, so maybe the science will be, too.
My son sounds a lot like your daughter, only with my boy boy, science is one of his main ways to learning... A lot of stuff I've looked at is... well, fronts for intelligent design type deals. I can't have my money go to this cause, not in the name of science education!
we're looking for what to do... right now I'm going to just put together reading lists of books, and maybe do some models for chemistry, naturalist type stuff for bio (picture drawing for a nature journal)... but there have to be something out there!
He is a very good reader and loves to read about science. Knows a lot of the facts, understands the concepts... I'd love to have something more for him!
