My stepmom passed away less than a week ago and the job of planning her 'Celebration of Life' memorial next month has fallen to my sister and me. Honestly, we were not super close with my stepmom so this is difficult.

We are asking my dad tons of questions but he doesn't know what he wants. I have tried to research this, but I am not finding a lot of details.

has anyone attended or planned a program like this? Can you tell me things you really liked?

I had a great idea for a memory book but my dad just brushed it off. Not sure if he understood what I was thinking or he just can't focus....

I plan to go through her music today and see what she has/liked. I did find some ideas for music online.

I would appreciate any ideas you have that I can't think of.

Sorry for your loss Tess...

When my brother's fiance past away, we had a video montage of her life. My brother played "Landslide" on the guitar while my cousin sang during the ceremony - that was her favorite song.
Everyone who attended were asked to wear all white instead of all black and they all had to bring a memory, poem, picture, or anything to be put into a memory book.

They asked everyone to type up or e-mail some of their favorite memories of her and then put them in a book. She was also known for baking pies, so everyone brought a pie to share. I have never eaten so much pie before in my life. She had planned out things some years before and told us all we were to wear green because black was for sadness and we shouldn't be sad for her. It's amazing, but I actually have fond memories of her service.

Sorry for your loss.
