We will complete "invertebrates" this year. I finally finished creating a long-term vision so that I can hopefully cover all subjects important to me prior to high school science. My boys are only one grade level apart, so I plan to keep them together through the long haul.
I was hoping the hive could let me know of any clear flaws in my plan.
Also, if you have any resources you feel would be perfect, please let me know.
Jessica, thanks for the colored table idea! :D

I think it looks fabulous, I cannot see any holes at all. I couldn't follow it though because studying one subject all year would bore me to pieces but that doesn't reflect what you feel is best for you and yours.
Holding off for Chemistry until 10th/11th, I know that is typical for public school but there's also the general or physical science year where it is introduced.
It's comprehensive so it's hard to give constructive feedback, lol.

Yeah, my oldest took chemistry in the 10th, but I couldn't see a way to use chemistry with both of the boys unless I scheduled it this way. Because I am lab-intensive, I really want to pair them up. My chemistry is more intensive (and expensive) than the Apologia, so I really don't want to repeat it two years in a row.
Thanks Jessica.

Hi Dawn,
I think it looks amazing. My kids are also back to back grades so I really looked at this. I think you have enough variety every year within the same topics but enough time to also dive deep if they have that interest. The only thing I see that for us we would change is the anatomy just before high school level. Why not do the general science and move the anatomy to hs so you can do it at a higher level? (guess I thinking about those cats we had in hs, lol).
anyway, it's impressive! I enjoyed meeting you this month at the local meeting, see you soon.

Thanks Tess.
Perhaps I could switch human anatomy with physical science. My oldest son spent a year on human anatomy with resources I have and library books, and it was quite a wonderful unit!
I had a great time at the WTM meeting -- thank you so much for being so welcoming!

Ok, what I want to know is how you got the chart in your post. :001_smile:

That took a little figuring out, LOL. First, I changed the MS Word DOC file to a pdf file, because I thought perhaps I could enter it into my www.savefile.com (http://67.202.21.157/forums/www.savefile.com) site and insert a picture that way. I like to have my files in this site as DOC and PDF (Thanks Jessica for the suggestion).
But, I couldn't find a way to insert a picture from the savefile website.
So, I opened up the .pdf file into my Adobe Photoshop Elements program and saved it as a .jpg.
I then uploaded it to my photobucket account (www.photobucket.com (http://www.photobucket.com)).
It's called trial and error. :tongue_smilie:

Same here. You did essentially what I did with a chart I tried to post earlier - only with better success.
I couldn't figure out how to save my word doc as a pdf.
So I scanned, uploaded to flikr, and inserted code from flikr. But the quality was bad.
