What happens when/if I put someone on my ignore list? Do I not even see their posts? Kinda curious about this Thanks in advance.

You see that they posted, but not the content of the post; unless you have it in hybrid mode. In hybrid mode, you can see the post, but I usually try not to read; otherwise, it will get my dander up. :-D

You will also see what they wrote if someone quotes them.

I saw someone else say that they could tell that they were on someone's ignore list. Can you tell that? Just curious if it shows up somewhere in your control panel.

Robin, I put you on my ignore list - just to check this, promise! :)
So, can you tell?

I can't see it anywhere! I wonder how the other person knew that they were on someone's ignore list? They didn't know WHO had put them on their ignore list... only that SOMEONE had done so.
Hey, thanks for trying! I don't know if you can read this or not since I'm on your ignore list :). I hope you remember to take me off! LOL

Perhaps the "ignored" person asked a direct question and didn't get a reply. Or the person "ignoring" said outright that she was doing it?

That would make no sense at all. I don't think the ignore feature would be something that could be detected by the "ignoree". If it were, what a dumb programming idea that would be. :001_huh:

Lisa, I think you and Plaid Dad are right... it probably was "revealed" in some fashion, and then discussed elsewhere. Maybe someone gave that poster negative rep and left a comment about putting her on the ignore list. Maybe that's how she found out. I was just curious, because I haven't been using these features (ignore/buddy) and didn't know if there were more to them than meets the eye :).

I got curious so I did a little searching and it happened in this (http://www.welltrainedmind.com/forums/showthread.php?t=4492&highlight=%22ignore+list%22) thread. Could have happened in other threads also.

Yep, you're back off :)
I'm glad there's no indicator. If I use the feature, I sure don't want it to be a red flag of obviousness. It doesn't work that well anyway, since I can still see the person's posts in hybrid mode, which is what I use for the boards.

On another forum they call it the "foes list." I would never put someone on it because I would accidently post something agreeing with someone on my ignore list and then that would make me crazay!
