Crib search for baby coming

I would love to hear if anyone has bought a crib from Target?
I saw a beautiful Bassetbaby one there last night and was wondering about the safety of ones from a marketplace over a furniture store.

Safety is number one, style second...

We bought our cribs from Wal-Mart. Here's a link to a website that talks about how to measure the slats of a crib. The distance between them and the type of paint it had on it would be what I would wonder about if I was not buying a crib by a known maker.

I would think that cribs you purchase at a known brick and mortar store would be safe...but then there was that whole "lead paint on toys" issue.

You might try googling Bassetbaby with the word opinion or review to see what others have to say.

I would think that most baby beds now are made according to the standards. Can you look it up online and read reviews of it?
