And I don't consider the ending to "Bleak House" to be a happy one. I care much more for Mr. Jarndyce than I do for Esther, and I wanted *him* to have the happy ending. Humph. I love him, truly. Too bad he's fiction. ;)

Oh, isn't he a dream? ;)

I love John Jarndyce, too. You will have to fight me for him.

Are you referring to the BBC production, starring Gillian Anderson? Because the actor certainly brings something to the role.

The book...I did want him to have a happy ending, but his character is lacking sometimes. It's been so long since I read it, but I don't think I was so disappointed by the outcome in the book. Think I was happy.

Bleak House is my favorite by Dickens

Yes, I'm referring to the character in the movie. I haven't read the book yet.

I was occasionally impatient with Mr. Jarndyce in the book because he was far too tolerant of his bloodsucking friend whose name escapes me at the moment. The actor was excellent. He was almost too good and made Jarndyce too wonderful.

I was not as sad for him when I read the book, either.

I will see you Mr. Jarndyce and raise you one Atticus Finch!

I do like Mr. Jarndyce in the book - yes, his friend was a mooch - but Jarndyce had a big heart!
