Ds is 6 1/2. He is working ahead in all areas a bit.
He is rebelling about lessons a bit too. I feel he needs a bit of a break in some areas. A break from the regular routine of his normal books.

He just finished the entire book of MCP A math and has begun book B. He is working in MCP SWO B and Phonics B. Also, he is doing FLL. He reads at an insanely high level.

So there is his work, for the most part. After a conversation today, I feel that maybe mixing it up a bit for a couple of weeks might be in order. He is bright, but very young. No need to push him, I feel. He expressed that he is frustrated with Math and FLL. But that he enjoys assigned reading (a lot). Phonics, and Spelling.

Given that information (oh, and he does not like 5 in a row either), would it seem that easing up on the areas that are stressing him (not because he doesn't do well, he gets it quite well) for a short break would be in order.

Does is seem reasonable to just do the Spelling and Phonics for book work, have him continue to listen in on the joint subjects with brother (SOTW science and religion), take a break with the math, and just let him read a lot? ANy other ideas that might be nice for us as well? He does not like discussing what he has read. However, he does talk it about most of the time if not asked.

He does love to read and will read the World History Encyclopedia and really good things.

SO, what sayeth ye all?

I would do something to change it up a bit. Perhaps there is a subject he is really interested in and could do a unit study on it. You could probably find something that would work in all the subjects you want to "drop" and make it fun. I am thinking we will likely do something like that in March.
