My only concern with this curriculum is the length of the lessons. Do you break these down at all? I'm wondering how flexible the lessons are as far as timing. Overall, has your dc had any problems not understanding concepts, etc.?

We have used this program this year (and used their Pre-Algebra last year). It takes awhile to get used to the way Professor Mosely suggests, but once you get into a groove, I think it works quite well. Basically, he suggests doing math for one hour per day. This is exactly what we do. If, over the course of the year, you take an *average* of 3 days to complete a section, you will complete the text. Some sections will take more than three days, some will take less. I have stopped fretting about it as much as I use to and focus more on the one hour a day aspect. We do have to "wiggle" a bit sometimes and occasionally we will go slightly over an hour to reach a logical stopping point. However, I try to avoid this b/c I have found that one solid hour is just about all my ds can take. Also, as far as timing goes, you do receive a schedule of how long each of the DVD sections are. Most are around 25 to 30 minutes, but there can be variety there, too. Also, I don't necessarily rely on that as my ds will stop and pause the DVD as he watches to try to work a problem before Prof. Mosely does it on-screen. It is his discretion about that. Thus, on the first day of a section your dc will watch the DVD and then probably have some time to start working the problems in that section. On the next two days he/she will just continue working problems. Once you finish a section, you go on to the next DVD lecture. I usually choose around 30 - 35 problems per section. There are MANY more than that, which is nice if you have any conceptual issues requiring more practice. If we finish up on the third day with only 10 or 15 minutes left, I assign the integrated review from the next section, rather than starting the next DVD. Prof. Mosely doesn't think these are necessary, but I like having my ds do them (the integrated reviews).
I hope this helps. I feel like I have been convoluted in my explanation. Just stick with one hour per day...it'll all work out in the end!
