Boorstin history book questions

I have read discussions of Boorstin's history book being used for American History.

Today, I picked up a used history book and teacher's guide for a book by Boorstin and Kelley called A History of the United States. Is this the book generally used? And if so, what have been your opinions? I have liked his other history books including The Landmark History of the American People.

Yes, I believe this is the one discussed mostly on these boards. I know it's the one Jean in Wisc. uses. I have it or at least the TE and think it's a wonderful text. I started using it with my 8th grader at the beginning of the year and she loved it, but it was a lot of reading for her, so we stopped. She isn't a strong reader, but I plan on using it again with her in 11th gr.
