For those of you who have graduated your children into college, how do competitive colleges look at AP classes/exams vs Dual Enrollment.

As a homeschooler, access to AP classes can be challenging. If the student applies to institutions with several classes taken at a community college, how is that weighted in relation to an AP class/exam?

Is it REALLY beneficial to take AP classes/exams?

I'm just trying to put this all in perspective. My dd is currently a freshman and wants to study chemical engineering. The colleges that she is currently interested in are pretty competitive She is planning to take a couple of SAT II tests, SAT, cc classes..

Also, what is the major difference between AP exams and SAT II subject tests?

Any insight would greatly appreciated.

Thanks

SAT II's are subject tests based on high school level material. AP tests are based on college-level material; that's why you can get college credit with them.

As far as which is better AP or community college, you really need to check out the admissions material for the schools your dd has her eye on. What universitites want can vary.
