Lyme Disease Anyone?

I have just been diagnosed with this after having major problems with my joints since last October. I started treatment yesterday and am very hopeful that I will be able to return to my former self once it kicks in but I'm really worried that my knees may never be the same.

I'd love to hear from anyone else who has gone through this. Basically, how long you were on treatment and how long it took you to recover and whether or not you made a full recovery or still suffer from lingering problems. Or anything else you would like to share.

My sister has been diagnosed with Lyme's. She has had it for about 18 months. I don't know the full story, but I do know she has a paralyzing fear of needles and I suspect refused to take the antibiotic IVs that her doc recommended.

She (IMO) is being unwise about her form of treatment. She's supposed to get shots twice a week, and she's looking into other treatments that sound hokey to me.

What are you doing??

Remudamom - My doctor started me on 400 mg of Doxycycline, which is an antibiotic. Depending on how well I do with this and how my other labs come back, he may put me on Plaquenil as well.

mine was caught almost immediately after the bite. For a few weeks I had experienced the fatigue and the dizziness and some joint pain. After my round of antibiotics, I was fine. I hope you are feeling better soon. I'll be praying for complete healing. Once treated, Lyme symptoms *should* go away.

I was on Plaquinil for a while for my arthritis. When my dh would fill the scrip for me the pharmacist would ask if I had cancer. If I remember correctly it's nasty, powerful stuff. Hopefully you won't have to mess with it.
