Hello everyone,
After putting over 4,000 miles on the ole' Suburban, we're back from Estes Park, CO. AND, we're returning with blue ribbons! Our 2 year old won her class and went on to place second in the Winners ***** class both days. (WB is the class in which all the winners of the ***** classes compete to see who goes on to the Best in Show ring.) We're very pleased, as Dani earned an "Excellent" rating from the European judge in the Saturday show. Molly placed second both days in tough Junior Handling competition so she was pleased and has something to share at 4-H next week. I was elected president of the national club (a dubious honor!) so I've got lots of work on the horizon. It's all good, though. It's all for the dogs. I keep telling myself that! :tongue_smilie:
Gorgeous scenery, but the altitude kind of kicked our butts. The show site was over 8,000 feet which was a change for us sea-level dwellers. The show was great, but the Stanley Hotel was a BIG disappointment.
We did some sightseeing on the way home, including Mt. Rushmore, the Badlands and the Laura Ingalls Wilder house in DeSmet, SD (a veritable holy place in my book!) and visited with family in Kansas on the way out to CO.
All in all, we're happy to be home, and despite my worries, all four chickens made it just fine with the neighbor boy taking care of them!
