I'm just not motivated to do Latin with my dc yet (neither are they) but I think it would be beneficial to learn the Latin roots of our Eng. words. What books/curriculums are out there that teach this? I've heard of several on the board but can't remember. THanks.

There are seveal levels, most available in either a workbook format or as software. We've used the computer-based ones with both of my kids.

I've started using English from the Roots up with my little one. We like it and it's easy enough for her age, though I know we'll have to keep reviewing in the years to come.

We have liked the pack of flash cards from English from the Roots UP. We have added a couple of card each week. We go over the derivatives and quiz each other. They have Greek and latin roots mixed together but I went though and separated them. The latin cards are Red (Red for Roman) and the the greek cards are green. Simple and quick way to learn the roots.

Vocabulary Vine by PaulaH who posts on these boards. We've really enjoyed it.

English From The Roots Up worked very well for us. Just a few minutes a day. Quick, easy and it stuck with my dc.

I don't know how old your dc are, but Vocabulary From Classical Roots has worked well for DD12 this year. We'll be continuing on to Book B next year.

We just started Vocabulary Vine and I really like it. It takes a few minutes a day and my kids are already retaining the info. I can't wait until we get a few more roots under our belts so we can start playing the games.

Even I enjoy doing it and it is quite challenging.

This has been a huge hit here and my dc have done very well with it. We mostly use the flashcards and learn and review with those.
HTH!
