I have my first negative reps, which I knew I would get before I posted on the science thread for being too emotional. But neither signed it and one doesn't even have a comment. But I used to have 5 positive reps and now it only shows 3, so what happened to the other 2 positive ones?

You can only see 5 at one time. (The most recent 5.)The others are still there in that they are counted but you don't see the comments anymore.

negative reps. Some people leave negative reps. simply because they disagree with a certain post. I think a negative rep. should be posted only if the person is hostile, aggressive, uses foul language, etc. Even then, I personally am committed to only giving good reps. and using PM to address a problem in someone's post.
Oftentimes the administrators browse through the boards, and they can eliminate negative reps. if they feel they are undeserved. I think Heather, the hostess of these boards, has a "sticky" entitled something like: "Everything you always wanted to know about rep. points". I would read that.

People give negative 'reps' to others for being emotional? eh? What on earth is that all about? People have emotions - it's human. :)
(I think the whole reputation thing is kinda silly. I tried it once, and there's some weird rule about how if I don't have *whatever* amount of my own "good rep", then me giving a positive to another person doesn't count...or something like that?...It's all sorta grade schoolish anyway - If I like what someone says, I'll just post and say so or pm them. :) )
