Dh applied for a scholarship for next semester. Actually, it's a series of scholarships, just one ap.

Anyway, I checked his student email for him last week, & there was a note saying they didn't have 3 of the required docs. He did take these in w/ his ap, they made copies, & he brought the originals home. I remember being surprised & then realizing that of course they wouldn't keep the originals. But since I asked him about it, I do specifically remember.

But the email was from 3/25. He had to get the docs in by 3/27 or be disqualified from the scholarship. He never checks his student email, which is his fault, BUT he did turn the docs in.

He called about this Friday of last week. I was hoping maybe it had been cleared up & they just hadn't sent him another email. Today, though, there's an email in his inbox asking if he brought them in person or faxed them. If he'd faxed them & kept a confirmation of the fax...well, I don't know what they'd do even then, because they'd already finished making the decisions regarding scholarships last week when he called. They're going to notify recipients this week.

I don't see that there's anything left to do, whether they find the docs or not, & I know it's not completely their fault. Dh should have checked his email. So I'm not mad or anything, just sick over it. Kwim? And I thought you guys might have some brilliant ideas that I haven't thought of. If not, it's ok. I just don't like to give up on things too easily.

A similar thing happened to my dh with regards to applying to a university for grad school. Without going into it, it was their fault, decisions had already been made, and we got nothing. DH put the pressure on and emailed several different people about the situation and finally someone listened and it got worked out.

I understand your frustration and I am sorry you are having to go through this. :grouphug:

Something similar also happened to ds last year. We got notice from the university that ds wouldn't be receiving any scholarship, though we knew he had met the academic requirements for at least 1/2 tuition for one year. So I wrote a polite letter explaining our disappointment and asking for further clarification of their guidelines for awarding scholarships to homeschoolers, since we assumed that ds' hs status had something to do with not receiving a scholarship.

The office informed us that ds hadn't met their academic threshhold with his ACT score. Well, we knew that. We were using his SAT score, which was much higher. THey replied that they did not have his SAT score, and if we could provide a copy of his test results showing that BYU should have received those scores, they would review his case.

A few days later they called. Sometimes these things happen. His scores were misfiled. They awarded him a year of full tuition.

Maybe something will work out for your dh.

I'm a big believer in pushing for something like this. Explain the circumstance, and don't even go into dh not checking his email, unless they ask if he got the message.Even then, just say-he didn't--not his fault, as it's not a requirement that he check his email to make sure they are doing their job!
This scholarship could make a real difference to your quality of life. Push for it.
