Why is it that when I post a thread or reply that the "edit" button doesn't show up sometimes?

You have to be logged in to access that feature. Could that be the problem?

I wish it were, but no, I log on. I have several things for sale and so like to log on and check my pms. I also like to check my thread subscriptions. For example, I'll post a new thread with for sale items. When I go back into it, most of the time it will let me edit. But, sometimes there is no edit button on the original post. Could it be a time thing? If the post is so many days old, you can't edit it anymore??

I don't have an explanation, but I do have an anecdotal bit of evidence. We have a laptop that I use only infrequently. For reasons I've yet to be able to figure out, that machine will log me out randomly. It also reacts differently to some of the features like "Hybrid" vs. "Threaded" display modes for thread. There's no sense in it, but it does happen. So...again...could it be that you're logged out but not *aware* that you're logged out? That's the only thing that makes any sense to me. Beyond that, I'd say you'll need to take it up with admin.

Oh, and you are only allowed to edit your own posts...no one else's. But, you knew that, right? :)

My computer does that too! It will randomly log me off, I thought it was just b/c I don't hit the "remember me" key. If I am inactive for 20-30 minutes, my computer will log me out. But, I do check the upper right hand corner to see if this has happened. And then, I can't search if I'm logged out, so I usually do check. And yes, I know I can only edit my own posts! Thanks for the advice. I will admit I'm not the most techno saavy! :)

I've noticed my older posts can't be edited. So I think you were right with the "time" thought, I can't say how long the posts are editable for. If someone knows for sure please post it.

I found that you can edit a post for up to seven days.
