I've hit a plateau (a plateau, that is, that is still way too far away from my desired weight!), and summer-- shorts & swim suit season, that is-- is quickly approaching. I'm drinking lots of water, babe is nursing well, I don't think I'm eating too much (yet I'm not "dieting" for fear of jeopardizing my milk supply). I'm not getting as much exercise as I'd like, but now that warmer temps are upon us, hopefully we'll all get outdoors more for walks around the block. Are there any healthy tricks that I'm missing? I want to wear my old clothes again!

You are doing everything you need to do. Adding exercise daily and some weights will really help. there is no magical way to do it. Make it a point to do something everyday.

The only thing that helped me was consistent exercise over a period of time. I did lots of walking with ds in the stroller everyday and that helped a lot. It wasn't until I started a water aerobics class 2x a week that I got back to my original weight, though. He was about 8 mos. old at that time.

I agree that adding weights is very helpful. Building muscle speeds up your metabolism and helps burn more calories even when you're just sitting there.

It sounds like you're doing great! Try not to put too much pressure on your self to lose quickly. Just enjoy your baby! You'll get to your weight goal if you keep at it.

Getting some cute, flattering clothes in the size you wearnow is a great esteem and beauty booster.

Have a great summer

I went on a meal plan where I ate 5 to 6 small meals each day. Each meal had a protein and either a veg or fruit. As time went on, I only ate carbs until noon, but that was when I got to a point where I was really tweaking things.

I also added in exercise and cardio. I worked with heavy weights 3 - 4 times a week with a trainer. I did cardio 5 - 6 days a week for no more than 30 minutes. If I did weights on that day, I did the cardio after the weights.

I always ate before I worked out.

This was the only thing that worked to get my metabolism boosted and moving.

OH my gosh, I could have written this post. My baby is 4 months old and I remember by this time (with my other babies) I'd already lost more weight than this! I have very few items of clothing that I can wear and it's getting bleak!

I am eating well, drinking lots of water, he's nursing well... I decided to cut out all processed sugar in an effort to lose a little quicker. It's only my 6th day, but I haven't noticed anything fitting better! My shorts are still tight in the waist. This belly fat does not want to budge! I am not exercising much, but I didn't at this point with the other babies. Maybe because I'm older.....

I'm trying to be patient and just try to squeeze in a little more exercise where I can.... but our schedule is tight (and I can't leave the baby for long... he doesn't take a bottle.)

*sigh*

You have to remember that it took 9 months to gain the weight, it will take a while to lose it. The belly fat does take a while to go, and it will take some time and work, especially after several children. I found that I still had some loose skin after getting my abs where I wanted them. However, it took me quite a while to get to that point.

I am not trying to loose pregnancy pounds... just to much food pounds *Ü* I have been since last Oct! lol Slowly slowly the egg begins to walk I guess... no pun intended. *Ü*

But I have been walking a few times a week, but kicked it up to 5 days a week and 3 days a week I also use Tai bo kicks with my daughter. I bought it for her a few weeks ago and its going pretty good. Its about 40 minutes long and for kids! I can handle that. *Ü*

Dancing with the kids is always fun! Just turn up some tunes for about 30 minutes and boogie mom! *Ü*

Another trick…. March in place bringing your knees up high and hold onto a broom length wise and as you bring your knee up raise the broom over your head. That gets the heart bumping!

I was going to respond BREAST FEED! But of course you already are. I gained and lost 40 pounds twice with my pgs and the nursing really helped take it off. But you are right, you have to eat healthy and drink a TON of water to keep that going too. Can't tell if you said how many months pp you are, but I believe in 9 months up and 9 months down! GL and mostly enjoy that baby!

Well... you ladies are right-- this is going to take time (arghh!) and patience and a bit (make that: a lot) of hard work. I think I'll pull out my hand weights tomorrow and start some strength training exercises, and hopefully the weather will cooperate and we'll be able to get out and walk more. But most of all, I'll enjoy my little one, and my bigger ones, too, of course, and in time, my jeans will fit again :o)

Thanks for the help and encouragement!
