Lesson one of Diogenes asks the student if the maxim is metaphorical or figural. What does "figural" mean? My Webster's New World Dictionary does not have this word. I looked it up online, and their definition did not match the context at all. The online dictionary said it had to do the with drawing of animal pictures.

Could they mean "figurative" instead of "figural?" I am starting to feel really stupid here, because I am already stumped at lesson one.
