I am looking for a science curriculum for 8th grade for my son. We have not done any formal science program yet - just read books. I am leaning towards Apologia General Science. Any suggestions?
Thanks,
Tami

We really enjoyed Rainbow Science this year (packaged lab, which I love!) We've augmented it with Prentice-Hall books (Chemical Building Blocks, for example) and other books...(my son was fascinated by the periodic table, so we've taken a slight detour...)

Umm, well I cannot recommend Apologia General Science to anyone let alone someone with little science background. My dd and I were both in tears over this book! It is dry, listless, very little pictures, and the tests were awful! Too analytical in nature. Some people LOVE apologia and many do NOT! I would definately not purchase it till you were sure.

I can recommend Abeka though! It is colorful, clear explainations and easy to read!

PM me if you want more scoop!
