I know this has been asked before but a search is taking me too long.

What is your favorite Biology textbook, besides Apologia or the Self-teaching guide?

Why do you like it?

Does it come with a lab book or other supporting materials?

Did your child like it?

Do you think he/she learned well from it?

Why do you like it?

It's thorough, and set up like the Honors college biology text that I used.

Does it come with a lab book or other supporting materials?

Yes, I thought the Lab was very strong.

Did your child like it?

Yes, but he likes all sciences.

Do you think he/she learned well from it?

Yes, he has retained a lot information that he learned last year. I will use this book with my younger two boys.

Campbell's Biology:Exploring Life (http://www.usingexploringlife.com/ataglance.html) (this is not the big Campbell text which is a rigorous AP choice or one of the two distillations of that, it is intended as a high school text - if they weren't *all* called 'Biology', it might be easier to keep them straight!).

I think it has the best and clearest coverage of the material, and it is an engaging text.

Yes, it has a decent lab book (though I chose to supplement the labs with materials from friends who are bio professors).

Yes, my kids really like/d it.

And, yes it was very effective in both short and long term learning.
