Ok, I took a look at the site last night and am happy with what I saw. Just a few questions:
1. After Minimus we would start with which book?
2. If I use GP English, will this mess my dd up with standard American English? Basically, will I only have to reteach things like quotations?
3. Will transitioning right after Minimus be Ok? Or should we do something else?
4. What is the name of or a link to the GP yahoo group so I can join?
5. If we did all the GP Latin books (I see that there are like 6 levels) where would that put us for Latin studies?
6. If we decided to do just a few of the Latin books when would we transition to Cambridge?
7. I have the answer to where to order in the US. Thanks.:001_smile:

Ok, I took a look at the site last night and am happy with what I saw. Just a few questions:
1. After Minimus we would start with which book?
I believe Laura says to start with Book 1 of Latin Prep. Latin Prep is heavy on grammar rather than vocabulary and so Minimus will have complemented what you will do rather than replace any of it
2. If I use GP English, will this mess my dd up with standard American English? Basically, will I only have to reteach things like quotations?
We are actually Scottish and so this isn't an issue with us. The most I imagine you will need to do is check for a few spellings in the spelling and vocabulary section. Usually by this stage, more advanced vocabulary, the differences in spelling between American English and English are very few.
I don't believe there is any issue with translating grammar rules in either book one or two. Please step in someone and tell me if I am wrong.
3. Will transitioning right after Minimus be Ok? Or should we do something else?
I think you will be fine to transition after Minimus. No previous experience is presumed. It depends more on the age and literacy of your child. I would begin at approximately age ten (older or younger depending on the child's abilities).
4. What is the name of or a link to the GP yahoo group so I can join?
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/galore_park_user_support/
5. If we did all the GP Latin books (I see that there are like 6 levels) where would that put us for Latin studies?
There are two different courses of Latin published by Galore Park. They parallel one another in content. So You Really Want to Learn moves quicker. Most people here like Latin Prep which moves more slowly but works well as a self-teaching text.
The sequence they suggest is Latin Prep 1, 2, 3, and then 'So You Really Want To Learn Latin 3'. I believe Laura is going to move onto Cambridge (online) after Latin Prep 3
6. If we decided to do just a few of the Latin books when would we transition to Cambridge?
This would be a perfect question to ask Laura in China, either here on at the Galore Park group...
7. I have the answer to where to order in the US. Thanks.:001_smile:
That would be http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/WEBSITE/WWW/WEBPAGES/homepage.php

Thanks so far. One more question:
Do I need the Teacher/answer guides or can I go without?
Thanks.

You could go without them for English. I like them a lot for English though because I use them to show the children what a model answer would look like.
With the Latin, unless you are good at Latin yourself and are happy to do all the exercises with or before your child, you would want the model answers. Annoying though, the Latin Prep Answer Book isn't complete, but the missing exercises are on the yahoo group, and the Galore Park website (I believe).
