We just took unit 4 test in Apologia Gen. Science (physics chapter). Son studied very well, knew formulas inside and out and was able to solve all the reviews. We got to the test and he did ok (got a 77%), but should have done much better as per his review.

How much do I review? We looked at his answers and he was able to correct them when I pointed out the problems. Can I just say, "Yahoo, my son can get a 77% on a physics test in grade 6!!" and just move on, or do we need to give extra questions for practice? I am leaning toward celebrating that we are done with physics (not a subject of mine!!).

How hardnosed do I have to be???

It's been awhile since we did Gen. science specifically but one drawback to me about Apologia is how few questions there are on each test. So every one you miss counts A LOT.

I don't even think we did the tests in gen. science. :)

One thought you might do is have him look over how/why he missed what he did, and then move on to the next chapter :)

You know he knows it right? Basically there were technical or test taking issues. If that is the case I would

and move on.

I would also move on. We often take tests orally and discuss the answers. I know they have to learn to 'take tests' but that can be taught in High school.

As long as he knows the stuff and can discuss sensibly then move on.
