He is getting low 80's in LitCT I. I asked him (we are planning on doing the online course through LitCT) if he would like to move on to LitCT II or re-do I. He chose to re-do I.
He said, "I am only going to be in the 8th grade and am used to learning until I master things and I don't feel like I've mastered LitCT I yet." I completely understand what he is saying, but also want to know if anyone can do a quick comparison between I and II?
Is there a LOT more new material in II?
He is also going to be taking (once I actually figure out what program) some type of Beginning Spanish.
Thanks,
Michele

I don't know if this Spanish would be right for him. It's called Visual Link Spanish. My dd is doing this and loves it, so thought I'd share so you could at least take a look at it if you'd like:

My dd is in Vol 2 this year and I just asked her if there was alot of new information in Vol 2 that was not covered in Vol 1. She gave me a strange look and said, "There's something new in every lesson!"
Does that help?

I am going to go look at the Spanish. I have done a search for Spanish on these boards, but am still so very undecided.
Yvonne - Tell your dd thanks. How old is she and how did she do in I?

Michele

Michele: She is 13 almost 14. I went back and looked at her tests from Book I and they averaged around 90. Her average this year is probably a little higher.

I absolutely don't mind him repeating I if he wants to, but also don't want him to be bored. I think we will discuss it a little further and see if he might practice during the summer.

Michele,
I've been using LiCT for probably 5 years. My oldest two only did Volume 1, but my 3rd is in Volume 2, and I'm trying to find the time to get through Volume 3.
I think reviewing and practicing over the summer is a great idea; to do the whole course over again would very likely be boring.
Do you have the Study Sheets and Drill Sheets? They provide lots of practice.

I do not have the correct edition of the teachers manual. I am going to contact them again and see if they will send me the correct tm.

Michele, they also have an activity book that looks kind of fun - crossword puzzles, etc.
My dd is making high scores in LICT I, but I'm nervous that she hasn't really mastered the material yet, and do we are going to go back through the book this summer, review everything she learned, and make some wall charts that visually organize/graph/outline all the material so that she see it at a glance and maybe even do daily recitations. That and continue to review those flash cards every single day. I know she doesn't have all the vocabulary completely memorized yet. I think the summer spent doing this will really make the difference... we need to go back through and review/reorganized all those "ablative of place when or where" categories that make my head spin :).
Good luck,
Robin

I'm going to bring up a major review this summer and see what ds thinks. I've also thought (since posting this here) about just doing another Latin for next year that is at a beginner level.
Blessings,
Michele
