We have always wanted one. This time, I am going to get one for dh for Father's day or our anniversary.

I don't know what to get and I don't want to spend too much money. Any brands, features or models that I should know about?

Are you looking for the kind that uses charcoal or the kind that uses propane?

We love our Weber, it is a charcoal grill and was very inexpensive. I don't know anything about the propane ones, they were out of our price range.

Perhaps gas. We have a gas pipe in the back of the house made for barbecues.

but if you want your food to be really GRILLED, go Weber! My hubby even has wood chips he soaks and uses to smoke meat - you haven't had 'que until you have had a smoke-grilled pork roast or turkey or ???!!!!!http://67.202.21.157/forums/images/smilies/drool5.gif

He even smoke grills out thanksgiving turkey outside when it is freezing or below.

We have this one: http://search.live.com/products/?q=Portable%20Q220%20566001%20Grill%20(Liquid%20Pr opane%2c%20280%20sq.%20in.%2c%2012%2c000%20BTU)&p1=%5bCommerceService+scenario%3d%22s%22+docid%3d% 2232F82C59ED567A5EB41E%22+p%3d%22a4ae416a4b1040939 1406679a778b2e5%22%5d&wf=Commerce&FORM=EGRE3.

Anyway, it's a gas Weber grill. It is portable, ours has a stand not shown in the link. It uses small propane containers although we discovered recently we could also buy an inexpensive converter to use with a large propane tank. We like it because it was MUCH cheaper than the bigger ones and it's really all the grill we need. It is portable...it's not super easy to cart around but can be done without too much hassle. We've taken it to several picnics and things. I use it almost every night in the summer....can't wait. :)

We have only ever used charcoal and food tastes so much better than if it were just cooked on a gas grill. We use a chimney starter to start our charcoal and we don't buy the briquets, but hardwood charcoal.

We have a Weber gas grill and I love it! It was quite a splurge for us to buy, but I wanted something I could actually cook a meal on in the summers w/o it burning and getting flare-ups like our old, cheapo grill. We don't have air conditioning, so when it gets in the upper 90s here, I try to not cook anything inside, and the grill has been great!

First, thank you for your suggestions. I would have followed them if DH didn't take it upon himself to get his own grill....

the George Foreman electric grill for $40 at Costco. :tongue_smilie:

Said he didn't want to spend alot of money on a grill or mess with charcoal or gas. Good thing we have an outdoor outlet. :tongue_smilie:
