I have to review the following programs: Latin's Not So Tough, Getting Started in Latin, Minimus, Latin for Children, Lively Latin & Latin Prep. I would like to work through them from easiest to hardest as I don't have any Latin.

We are currently working through the early books of LNST and it seems fairly easy as it is mostly vocabulary. We are also using Getting Started . . . which is a very easy gradual intro.

Right now I am printing Lively Latin and I am not sure exactly what age group this is for. The reading seems advanced for 3rd grade but the activities seem young for 5th or 6th grade.

I have briefly looked through Minimus and Latin for children but I am not sure which would be easier or for a younger age.

Latin Prep seem to be the most advanced.

Someone will probably correct me but I believe that

LNST is something you can start in 1st grade
Minimus is for the 7 to 9 year old
Lively Latin is for 3rd to 4th grade
Latin for Children is something you can do with as young as 3rd grade.

I don't know about Latin Prep.

All of this is just what I have picked up as I researched Latin programs. By the way I have a binder of samples of various programs and I keep it on hand so others can look at them and decide what will work best for them.

I have actually had LNST on hand and am using Minimus right now with plans to follow it up with Lively Latin.

I only know about Minimus, LFC and a little about LNST.
Minimus is for the 7-10
LFC suggests starting in 3rd
LNST the people I know using this started around 2nd or 3rd

Sorry I can't talk about more.

I don't know that I'll add anything new here, but...

LNST - can certainly start in 1st grade

Minimus - I can't imagine doing it without some Latin background (at least I couldn't make it work with my oldest) but I'd think 2nd grade is the earliest I'd use it (officially, I think it's age 7-10)

Lively Latin - I plan to use this in 4th. The reading is way too much for my 3rd grader right now. My 5th grader loves it - he doesn't think the activities are 'too young' at all.

Those are the only ones on your list that I have any experience with.

I plan to use Latin Prep next year and my understanding is that it is for middle school, 6th maybe 5th at the earliest.
