My son is almost finished with R&S English 4 and after reading all these posts on classsical writing I am beginning to wonder if I should of been doing a separate writing course with him. I thought I read in WTM that if you use R&S English that there wasn't a need for a separate writing..
what is your opinion on this? Should I be using a writing program in addition to R&S? BTW, he is not a very strong writer nor does he enjoy it. Thanks!

Yes, that's right; you don't need a separate writing program, *especially* given the fact that he is not a very strong writer and does not enjoy it. R&S spends the early years building on basic skills, such as writing sentences that are correctly punctuated and capitalized and which are structured correctly. The writing assignments are age appropriate and vary in type. The writing assignments really pick up in Building Securely, the 7th grade text.

I didn't have the discipline to carry over writing into other subject areas in science & history. So we use IEW with R&S English.
