Thanks to all who have tried to help so far. This is what I am doing:
I am hitting the quote button and removing the parts I don't want to quote. What am I doing wrong?
I hit the quote button this is what I got.
It seems that when you hit the quote button it automatically puts the end quote command in but not the beginning one. I tried adding a / before the quote in the beginning but it didn't work. Do I have to add the entire quote command after the part with the number? Is this correct? I thought that if you hit the quote button it did it automatically. Is this a malfunction with my computer?
I appreciate all the help. Thanks

I am trying again. I hit the quote button and right now the screen has
To open there should be NO "/" at the beginning the "/" goes at the end. Your open tag has a "/" before the "QUOTE"
to open code to close it
Without the "/" you get

If you want to quote things from more than one post, or break up what you are quoting so you can respond to it bit by bit, you can use the quote icon (it's the one to the left of the # icon). Select the text you want quoted and then click the icon.
You can, of course, do it manually as Sis described with [q-uote] text you want quoted [/q-uote] (without the dashes!), but you probably want to preview the posts then to make sure a typo hasn't messed things up - computers are so persnickety! :)

Is this how to split quotes?

I had been wondering how to do that. Thanks!
